The call to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20) is the purpose of Lazybrook Baptist Church . Many resources for going, giving & praying are focused in this direction. Our church has been blessed in 2003 & 2004 as being recognized as giving the most per capita to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering (funds for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention) of all the churches in the Houston area. Priority giving has been motivated by priority going.
In 1999 we became involved with Innovative Mission Opportunities, a local ministry which seeks to send church members on short-term mission trips across the world to unreached people groups. Since that time members in our church have traveled for mission or relief trips to China , India , Yemen , NE Africa, Myanmar , Nepal , Kyrgyzstan , Indonesia, Bangladesh and Ethiopia (as seen here with Dr. Neesley.) For more information on Innovative Mission Opportunities go to www.imoi.org.
We presently have a career missionary family in South Asia : Jeff & Rebecca Epley & their 3 sons. For more information on the International Mission Board go to www.imb.org
Through One Mission Ministries, led by Abraham Barberi, we have an ongoing mission relationship with Alentadora en Cristo Churchin Matamoros, Mexico with Pastor Gabriel Arellano. Frequent trips have included: buying property, construction work, evangelism, VBS & ongoing encouragement. We have been blessed to work with Paul Bellington Ministries for much of these efforts.
Locally, we have been involved in the Baptist Mission Centers, the 3 local centers provide essentials to Houstonians through the Gano, Fletcher and Joy Mission Centers . Lazybrook has been helpful through the years in providing funding, manpower & resources to assist these ministries in touching those in our city. For more info go to www.bmchouston.org.
Our church is also blessed to have a missionary residence for furloughing international missionaries.
